Ah yes, it's really Summer. Kids are out of school, vacation plans brewing, fans on high. I'd like to share some bits of my childhood in here too... I've a tall glass of lemonade and the sun is setting... company on the way over... no hassles... a sweet Summer night about to happen...
My first rollercoaster, the Cyclone at Coney Island (still going strong)

Hi Laura,
Well, the hale storm has finished. Yes, we had a hale storm!
Anyway, nice to read about an actual summer. The kids don't get out of school here until late July.
Enjoy your sweet summer's night :)
Right then, go turn the heating back on. Sigh...
Take care, Gary

Coney Isl. rolleycoaster was my first one too! 1962. And I enjoyed that. But my brother persuaded me up the Parachute Jump there and I lost all my intestinal fortitude in the first 1/4 second of the drop. It's probably still up there. So thanks Austan, I think.
It!s the good old summertime and let the fun begin. However, those guys in the tubes are crazy. I wonder if their parents saw that video.
Those old rickety roller-coasters were the scariest... so much fun. I think my first was Cat and Mouse.
I never fancy New York (the bustling inner-city streets come to mind), but those places looked really lovely.
And my first roller-blade at Roller Town resulted in the loss of my two front teeth. Aaaah, summer.
Last night was a hot one... running behind schedule today 'cause it was too hot to get to sleep. Still no AC, though!
Summer's saluting us, huh? More like a one-fingered salute. Gonna be 103 today, and 106 over the weekend. Almost makes me wish we still had our pool. Have a super (cool!) weekend.
It is extremely hot. I am not complaining though. I am learning to deal with seasons as I am aging.
Gary! Hale! Wow you guys are having a helluva weather time. Stay warm and dry, and I'll work on that weather machine to send some of this heat over.

Geo- the parachute jump was off-limits in our family or I would've been up there. It was the Wonder Wheel with the crazy cages that made me leave my guts in Coney Island. :D
Arleen- I'm certain I'd never do that. Not now, anyway. ;)
Boo- The wooden coasters are the best. Where's Cat and Mouse? Both front teeth at once? OW! and bloody too!
Good for you with no AC blowing! If we can get thru these heat waves without AC, the rest is gravy. Or ice cream.
Susan- It sure is a one-fingered salute. And it's not even July!!!So glad you're back!
Munir- Seems like I can tolerate both heat and cold much better than when I was young. I wash dishes in damn hot water, which would've hurt when I was young but kinda feels good now. Go figure.
