Labor Day, 2012

Today is workers' playtime. Or it was supposed to be, before the 24 hour- 7 days a week consumerism took over. Now it's another chance to spend good money on cheap crap "marked down" to honor the god of capitalism run amok.

I could really rant about this state of affairs but I'll spare us all. Stevil has covered the bases already:

It's enough to know that 8 years after a failed union drive, where we were demonized, threatened, harassed and at last union-busted, there will be a union after all. They couldn't do it now if we hadn't done it then. It was worth it.

Solidarity, brothers and sisters.
Happy Labor Day.

Thing about the labor movement is, it moves. Crush it and it still moves because it's in a constant state of reorganization. It's been bashed back to square one plenty of times, where it twitches, then moves, then starts organizing again. You helped. Thanks!

I was a stalwart unionist here as well. Despite being told that it didn't 'fit' with my position as I moved up the ranks. Solidarity forever indeed.

Geo.- it's true, it's a mutable thing. All my notions of unions changed in dealing with them, and then I saw them change again as new attitudes were adopted. Only 2 of the organizers are still there. Wouldn't have missed it, or seeing this now, for the world. :)

Gary! Solidarity forever!
See? I knew I liked you!! ;)
That's an unenviable position, but I honor it.
All these layers to you...
