Fine, I give up!
There's just no way I'll ever catch up with all the things needing doing and all the people I owe phone calls. Oh, I'll try. Somehow I don't think I'll succeed, but I'll try.
Meanwhile, here's something for all those who're beatifying Reagan

One week since quitting smoking- and the old bitty is still coughing and hacking in the hallway for my benefit. Ach, gotta run, I'll try to be back later.

One week down, and the rest of your life to go...
Susan said it all.
The things we do for others does not seem hard, but what we do for ourselves spin us out of control. You are a mighty strong lady, Laura, and I have no doubt that you will succeed.
My son is smoke free for over a month now. Said he felt like his lungs were drowning in those first few days.
Sus- Yep, and forever is thankfully only now. It's sorta zenlike.
Arleen- Thanks for the cheerleading. I go between telling myself I don't smoke anymore and telling myself it's easy, don't make a big deal of it. So far, not bad at all.
Susan- I know what he means. My lungs feel like lead and the first couple of days I don't know if it was panic or what but I couldn't breathe right. It's nice to take big lungfuls again without a cough or choke!
Beatifying Reagan? Oh dear.
I learned early on never to cry "Uncle". If I did, several men would appear and drink all my father's beer. But I applaud your efforts at conquering other habits.
Hey Laura,
Great stuff about not smoking for now over a week. Hopefully, staying distracted and making phone calls, can keep you focused on a healthier you.

I feel so proud.
I've given up smoking more times than anyone I know.
EC- Oh yes, there are those who think he's Jesus.
Geo.- it's nice to have family. It's 10 days now, no big deal. Apart from the mood swings, irritability and constant gum chewing.
Gary! Thanks, it's not as bad as I'd thought. Guess it was time. I do have a certain attachment to breathing. I was singing Tarkus right along with him yesterday!
