Entertainment, Please!

We've had neighbors leaving feet first this weekend (not the old bitty next door, but nice old ladies from across the way). It's rather grim to sit down with your evening meal and see a body being taken out. Or sit down with your morning cuppa, raise the shade and see what looks like a rerun with the same cast of police, fire dept., and ambulance sans lights and sirens only at a different door. For days like these, we have light British comedy and distracting mystery.

Stephen Fry can make my day, even when it starts with a dead neighbor

"Have I Got News for You" is back with a fresh series

A favorite mystery series, "Jonathan Creek"

Another fun panel show, "Would I Lie to You?"

And a nice long (2 1/2 hour) mystery- the pilot of "The Inspector Lynley Mysteries" (and several younger, familiar faces in it, too)

There. That's better. Not lifting the shade for a while today.

Hey Laura,

Bonus points for commenting gone three in the morning??

After your weekend, a bit of light British comedy. I shall bore you with a bit of info about Stephen Fry. I worked for a mental health charity where he was supposed to turn up and get starstruck meeting me, yes me. Unfortunately, he never showed up and we never found out why. To think he missed out on meeting me!

Take it easy, eh.

I did not know who Stephen Fry was until I heard Britta( on a show called Community) mention his name and say "Nice try Stephen Fry". I had to look him up.

Gary,
What on earth are you doing up at this hour? Go to bed immediately.

Ah, well, he is rather unstable himself. There was that episode where he ran off from the show he was starring in... I believe he did a short tv series about his manic depression?

When he does show up I'm sure he'll be awed to meet you, yes you.
Now go to bed!

Munir- he's got a big brain and is very entertaining. He's done so many things it's hard to choose what to say. I like "QI" best, I think. I've read his autobios, too. An interesting life.

I have no idea why I'm awake. I shall go to bed immediately or within the next two hours :)

Yes, he did a documentary about his bipolar disorder.

He also did a documentary in Stoke on Trent regarding a place I used to run mental health meetings. The name of the place is "The American Clubhouse".

Yes, I'm sure he regrets not meeting me, yes me, shy and humble me.

Okay, I shall go check my eyelids for cracks!

That's just not the view you want to see first thing in the a of m is it? We have somewhat the same thing going on next door....both parties unwell and coming and going in ambulances. They are not that much older than us. Scary.

Lawless, it's really not. I didn't know they don't put the sheet over your face in real life. At least not around here. I never saw the dead taken out that way- sitting up, blanket to the waist, strapped on to the litter. In NYC, they put you right into a body bag. Or they did, last time I saw it there. I wondered for a minute why they just loaded her into the ambulance and all went back into the house, leaving her alone, and with the top of her uncovered in the cold. Then it dawned on me- no lights, no siren. The cops were the last to leave. Very sad. Couldn't watch the second. I guess it's the season.

I have always liked Stephen Fry, but warmed to him even further (if possible) when I discovered he had written the introduction to a PG Wodehouse anthology I was reading.
You will be shocked and surprised (not) to hear that I have read the Inspector Lynley mysteries not seen them. They could never match the images in my head.
And yes, curtains firmly drawn is the only way. Sending hugs and love to you.

EC- I just love him. I'm sure he's quite a pill, but I don't care.

No surprise indeed. No matter how much fun a production is, it never matches the quality in our imaginations, does it?
Hugs and love back across the world!
