Fry-day Fun

Hahahah! I'm free all day Friday too! Course, I only had about 4 hours' sleep and it's starting to get unhealthy. I'm going to make a real effort to sleep in this morning. So since it's 5 a.m. in the UK already, I'm posting for Friday now.

Today, August 24th, is my Niecely and Nephew's 21st Anniversary. 21 years! Happy Remarkableness!!And yesterday I got a gift in the mail from them- a Nook! And loaded with books! I'm ready for the Winter! Bring it on. And thank you Niecely. :)

Today is also Stephen Fry's birthday. You know how I love him. He's probably the only somewhat snooty toff in the world that I like at all. Because he's a snoot but not a snob, and he is unerringly on the side of good always. And brilliant. And tall. And handsome. So here's a little Fry for Friday

He and Hugh Laurie are so young!

And beyond the Fry delights...

There's happy stuff

and heart-punches

And here's a pretty amazing statement by Lauren Luke (warning: intense)

And if you know nothing of Greg Lake, here's a thread that's been around for 4+ years and still grows

(Okay, that's the obligatory Greg plug; I can't help it)

Happy Fry-Friday and Happy Anniversary Lisa and Derek!

That Lauren Luke video was so true and so sad. Callers who are in, or have been in, relationships where domestic violence is involved. are some of the most confronting calls I take at Lifeline.

Your own Nook! Excellent! My brain is fried from serious/sad stuff right now, so I will just say... love that Fry! How true. And here's to catching up on some sleep. 21 years is a major accomplishment! Congrats Lisa and Derek. :)

A Nook!!!! Best present EVER! I just love my Kindle and I'm sure you'll find the Nook just as wonderful. Those niecely/nephews deserve a big hug for that gift!
Oh yeah, and HAPPY FRY-DAY!

I am so oblivious! Just figured out what sort of "Nook" you got. Kept imagining an empty space with books in it. Must be having an out-of-century experience.

HA! I love Geo's "out-of-century" comment. You're gonna LOVE your Nook. I have the just-the-basics version of Kindle, and it's awesome. (Pretty awesome niece and nephew you have there, too!)

Happy weekend!

EC- I've been watching her vids for years and that one was so out of the ballpark and unexpected. "Domestic violence" is a big problem around here, and I'm sure, everywhere.

Lawless- a total surprise too! I hope Hubby is up at at it again soon, dear. The running to the hospital can get wearing so take care of yourself please.

Boo- they're my peeps! :) 21 years is a long haul, half their lifetimes!

Cathy- they're terrific kids. I wouldnae trade em for love nor money. And HAPPY FRY-DAY to you! ;)

Geo.- an out of century experience! Hahahahah!!!

*blush* Thanks y'all!

When my mom passed 4 years ago, Laura was the only family member (besides Derek and our daughter, of course) who was there for me. My mom's siblings didn't stand behind me when my step family told me I wasn't wanted. My father's family hasn't been a part of my life since he passed in '83. Through thick and thin, Laura's always been there. She's a combination of mother, big sister, aunt and best friend. Getting her a NOOK was the least we could do, for everything she's done for us. Now, please don't be mad at me for sending her 200+ books and keeping her from blogging! :D

Niecely- well now I'm crying again. You make it easy to be there. I love you guys.

Tomorrow's a big day too! Comcast email is down again, so call if you need me!
