The organizing workers are hoping the Board of the coop will recognize the union, waiting on word, and pretty sure the Board will just get behind them. I remember feeling all that. Perhaps this time will be different. But the Pres. of the Board has already said that's all up to the Manager to deal with, not them. And as long as ol' Snidely is in charge, well.

Meanwhile, the organizers have gone into action and are doing much of what we did the first time, only this time online:

Sign the petition here, if you'd rather:

And there's the obligatory thread with value added indignance

Sometimes I wonder why I get so wrapped up in these things. My brothers used to lecture me. People seem perfectly fine with doing what they do, just enjoying their lives once they retire. They say they're happy with things and can't be bothered. There are times I really envy them.
Today I monitored and spread the word. There are several of us who care very much. Thank you to all who are emailing and raising awareness. This could be Snidely's Scrooge moment, his Grinch heart grows moment. We're waiting.

Austan, I'm not a Brattleboroean --except maybe in spirit-- so I can't sign the petition, but I recognize that what you're doing is of vital general importance. So are the efforts of teachers in Chicago and retail clerks in Fresno etc.; they add up. What's important are the clinches, large and small, coming to workers' gains or losses, all over the country. While negotiations continue, so do the unions. You're doing good.
Geo.- you're an honorary Brattleburger to me. ;) I guess it's how we hold the line, just keeping on. Watching who's signing on and the comments they make has been delightful, exonerating and galling..
The person you have to live with is you. Could you live with yourself, would you even recognise yourself if you just let it go through to the keeper? No, I didn't think so.
You're right, EC. I couldn't.
Unions have done some wonderful things for workers but here in Canada they seem to be losing some of their effectiveness.
Um....."Brattleburger"???? Now I'm craving something hot and juicy off the grill.
More people should care.
I'm glad you do!

p.s. In agreement with you about Ozzy and Brian and wanted to tell you that I love the Burns quote. Shall also use the term "Strolling Bones" now, thanks to you. :-)
Lawless- there actually is such a thing as a Brattleburger. Ground beef with grated cheddar and worcestershire. I should know, I invented the darn thing.
Pearl- Thanks, girl. I know you care too.
Poor Ozzy and Brian, they can't help it. And isn't Burns on the money sometimes?
Haha! They are the Strolling Bones these days!
