Perfect Timing

At 5 a.m. I woke up with a roaring headache. About an hour ago it started receding, hallelujah. Life goes on and so I got some coffee, did the morning usuals and settled in at my desk to clean out all the accumulated unnecessaries.

By chance, the cable is running a "Watchathon" on the higher echelon channels that are unaffordable in these parts. So I've got the last series of "True Blood" playing. If you don't know of it, it's a present-day series about vampires, werewolves and other supernatural types in the swampy south, and is for a Mature Audience. Its theme song is

and was playing when I heard a timid closing of the front door. A minute or so of silence followed, and then a knock on my door.
"Hello?" I said, not getting up.
"Hello," said a man.
"Yes?" I said.
"Hello," he said again (and in the background,  "I wanna do bad things with you..."). "I'm a minister."
"You're not allowed to do that in this complex," I said.
"Not allowed to do what?" he said.
"Peddle anything door to door, including religion," I said.
There was a long moment of silence.
"Well you have a good day," he said.
"You too," I said.
The front door closed on "I wanna do real bad things with you."
Maybe I should hang a Baphomet on the door and be done with it.

Good girl for not opening the door. I used to have a sign on our front door but no one read it and eventually it blew away. (Ooh..I just got a Gunsmoke image of my note blowing down the street like tumbleweed) Now I just talk through the door and say "no thank you" to whoever it is. NEVER open the door!!

I dunno, Austan. You stop letting ministers in and pretty soon you skip Easter. Then there's no bunny eggs in the yard for the new Christians to hatch out of and then, well then..."True Blood" eh? Worth a look.

Lawless- I've had a rule for a long time, and that is, if I'm not expecting you, I don't answer the door. Who, these days, expects anyone to just open their doors to strangers?

..then human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!
Hahahahah Geo.! Yes, check out True Blood. It's fun.

LOL!!! You were A LOT nicer about it than I would have been. I looooooove "Bad Things"! I crank it up on my mp3 player. AND, Jace is from E'ville :D

I have read some of the True Blood series but not seen it. I love the theme song though - thank you. I also really like a complex which doesn't allow anything to be peddled at the door. WONDERFUL.

Yeah well, Niecely, you own your own house and can say whatever the hell you want. :)

EC- It's a fun series. It may not follow the books exactly (what tv shows do?) but it's very entertaining. Bloody, but entertaining. And yeah, I was so happy to learn that I could tell any of them that come to the door that they're trespassing. :)
