Love, In Itself

Valentine's Day is not a day I embrace with unmitigated joy. February in general bums me out because there's been so many devastating deaths in February. And for most of my single years I managed to break up with someone just before Valentine's, and this year is no different. There will be no romance, but that's all right. There are many types of love.

I do love love, and so I mark the day as just that- the holiday of Love itself. I have grown over the last few years to play a lot of Beatles love songs and a few others on VD. Here I'll share:

The full Beatles Love Songs album

The incomparable Beach Boys' God Only Knows

The ultimate break up song, Trilogy by ELP

And my own Valentine's Day Song of 2013

And so with all that in mind, I must ask... will you...

Sure, if you don't mind hanging out with a old broad with a warped sense of humor, I'll be your Valentine. (But do we HAVE to listen to the Beatles allllll day???)

Susan- Yay! then we'll be 2 old broads with warped senses of humor. And no, I'll listen to them before you get here! I'll have the Irish coffee waiting with a nice brunch.

All riiiiiight. We went to New Orleans some years ago, and one of my favorite memories is sipping Irish coffee in Pat O'Brien's garden.

Austan, I hope you'll include me in your circle of Valentines --and, re. Deus ex Machina, Musee Mecanique yes, of course, use anything.
