Lying Groundhogs!

Ha! The weatherbees are telling people to be wherever they intend to be for the weekend at noon on Friday, cuz up here in Yankee country we're getting snow.

How silly. Even if we get the threatened 2 feet of snow (and I'll believe it when we get closer to the storm's arrival time) it'll just slow everyone down for a day. Everything will be running normally on Saturday after the snow's done and the plows get out. Honestly, you'd think it's an apocalypse. Every little thing is a huge red freakin alert anymore.

Anyway, whichever rodents said that Winter was over- liars. Really, we can cut out the rodents and whatever other poor creature we endow with the powers of the Oracle of Delphi. The short form is, if it's mostly sunny on the 2nd of February there's more Winter coming. That's because an ancient Irish Goddess makes it decent so she can gather in all the wood she'll need for the coming weeks of Winter. Now, isn't that more believable than a rodent in a hole in the ground?

We're gonna get that snow around noon on Thursday...I'm hoping we get done with it fast and send it on off to you lol. The groundhog didn't lie...he's just not very bright.

I believe you have captured the essence of Voltaire's argument in favor of contemporary pantheism.

Are you dissing my states Punksutawney Phil.? Why Laura, he is never wrong.

Those weather bees though are alarmists and have made telling the weather akin to everyday being a 9/11. Yesterday they were telling us it was going to be Armageddon around here with the Nor'easter coming on Friday. Now we are told it might only be rain, but oh, torrential rain and maybe, just maybe, some of us may get a few inches of snow. Imagine that, snow in February.

Life was simpler when we had 15 minute newscasts.

Well, I'd have to agree that your explanation makes as much sense as the rodent one. What amazes me is how many people go out before the butt crack of dawn to SEE that rodent come out of his hole. I mean, reeeeeally?

Our local rodent predicted more winter, which is a hoot. We rarely have much of a winter here in the first place. (Not that I'm complaining, mind you.)

Hi Laura,

Never mind the groundhogs. Evidently, hedgehogs over here can predict, with amazing accuracy, the weather for an entire year. Rain, followed by more rain, followed by snow, slush, more rain and clouds :)

In peace,

The snow has started here...a few flakes (oh no, that was me) nothing serious yet....still....they are screaming about snow shovesls and snow tires and cancellations.
