Doonesbury Still Rocks

Garry Trudeau has never gone away. In the past few months he's tackled a number of social issues, as he always has. Today he's started tackling the new legislated ultrasound "10 inch wand" laws being imposed in women seeking an abortion.

And papers have backed off printing his strip. Some have moved it to the editorial page. Some have sought replacement strips until this issue is no longer in Doonesbury.

Sorry- did we go through a time warp and blast back to 1971 and nobody told me? This Puritan bullshit has to go.

I don't know Laura. Do kids still read the funny papers?

None of the kids I know bother. The adults still do, but kids don't care.

I noticed the Puritanical crap myself. Not sure what's going on here, but when did we move back to the idea that women were too stupid to take care of themselves?

And when did we ever want the opinion and judgment of those hypocritical, idiot, right-wing-religious, MALE morons?!!!

Ah well, democracy was a nice experiment while it lasted.

Welcome to the new Theocracy

Pearl- Apparently when the Republicans lost their minds.

Carrie- I never did, but we're all working for the Pharoah these days, and women have no rights to their bodies. I tell ya, The Handmaid's Tale isn't far off.

TSB- Yeah, RIP democracy. Hello, crushing yoke of oppression.

It is so hard to believe what we are hearing today. There is always a lot of garbage that is spoken during a presidential campaign, but this stuff that is getting all the press lately, beats all.

I really don't mind (much) the loonies being allowed to put their views forward. I do mind (lots) when they either are greeted with open arms or their lunacy looks like a possible/probable outcome. Never mind which decade, which century are these bozos coming from.
Perhaps the ten inch wand could also be used on the other party to the pregnancy. As an equal rights sort of gesture.
