Semper Fi, Baby

As the daughter of a Marine Sergeant I'm kvelling from my guts over this former US Marine who's not taking it anymore:

My mother would be bursting. This one's for you, Marge the Sarge.

This is the second post you have put up today which has brought me to tears. Sucksville City, strike two.

EC- I'm sorry. It really is Sucksville City. WTF is going on in this country? This is because of people who don't pay attention or even know this is happening.

This line says it all:

"We just fought a war to bring democracy to Iraq," Thompson said. "Now, we’re passing laws that restrict and bring conditions to our right to vote. I sacrificed my right to vote in order to make this statement."

He is so right. Why are we doing all this crap abroad, sacrificing lives, and then creating a dictatorship at home?

Carrie- He's absolutely right and so are you. We're making the world safe for capitalism while the mooks in power take our rights away every day at home. We just exist to pay for it all.

Dynamite! Politicians who think these restrictive voting laws are a good thing (i.e. republicans) don't give a good diddle about the poor or elderly, but they're gonna have a harder time ignoring the veterans who speak out.(They may not BE veterans themselves, but they seem to think of the military as being "their" constituents.)
