"If you meet someone who is an utter turd, and in life you will, don't do that thing they tell you which is imagine them all naked, and then you'll have contempt for them; that's not the point. Imagine the absolute truth of even the most aggressive, unpleasant, self-regarding, vain, unsympathetic person you could ever meet and remember that they are not only desperate to be loved, but to love. I've never met a human being of whom that isn't true. And it's so astonishing that we don't even bother to think about it because it's almost too much for our brains to take in, I think."
~Stephen Fry, Hay Festival, 2010
And here's a bonus, my favorite comic Lewis Black in "Red, White and Screwed."

I adore Stephen Fry Laura - not just because he's humorous - but because he's bravely stood up and dusted himself down after making mistakes in his life and not tried to run away from them. He stands up with mirth and puts his human frailties on display for all to see.
Just an all round good man.

Rory- Are you sure we weren't separated at birth?
LOL I'm beginning to wonder. He's the only 'celeb' I follow on twitter.
Rory
He's the only celeb that made me consider Twitter. Luckily, it passed.
I don't know who Stephen Fry is (that's how out of it I am these days) but that's a great quote. I will try to remember it--it seems both inspiring and true. Thanks for posting it.
I also do not know who Stephen Fry is, but I will look him up.
My favorite Louis Black commentary was one he did on Trump. It was on the Daily Show sometime in March or April and is one of the funniest clips I have ever seen.
Stephen Fry is a genius, or as close to one as we get these days. There is much of him on YouTube in his many acting gigs as well as in interviews. Here is Stephen on religion:
