It's just past midnight. I've checked the hot water every hour and so far so good. I finally got a shower in, after watching the DRB meeting. Which brings me to the DRB meeting itself.
It was long and contentious. Several times I could've gone right through the tv at the town lawyer. He's such a little bitch! It was best all the way around that I didn't get there. As generally miserable as I've been, I just know I would've launched. Someone would've gotten my pocketbook over their head, I would've been arrested, it would've been bad.
Three hours of questions, innuendo and accusations later, the verdict came back. We won. The Shire is saved. People can move back. Though some have already moved elsewhere, and unfortunately a couple of them have had to go into a nursing home, our little Hobbiton lives on.
What a relief.
Sometimes, just sometimes, the good guys win.

Raising a glass.....congratulations...but why oh why do people have to undergo such stress and strain just to achieve what is right?
Lawless- It really is ridiculous. On top of which, should anyone appeal this, we could all lose our homes again. I swear I'll go postal if that happens.
Oh my goodness, a shower and a win for the Shire! I'm glad you could watch from home, and yeah, probably a good job you weren't there... don't want you being carted off to prison now you're back. ;)
You're kidding... I am touching wood all over the place that nobody appeals! When will you know that it's all a proper go?
There are 75 days before the written decision is filed, and until it's filed and done, the fat lady can't sing. So February 20th...
Bob Stevens (the engineer) really carried it for BHA last night. He is so knowledgeable and prepared that the town's intransigence was shown in sharp relief.
When he did get a little testy at the end, it was well earned and helped rather than hurt the BHA and the Shire.
Hooray!
I know there are still bows to tie and "t"s to cross, but it was pretty clear the DRB was ready to see this resolved in favor of Melrose.
Yes, and I think Bob S was a bit surprised that the people he usually works with were so rabid last night. Let's just hope the Town doesn't pull any shenanigans. Barb Sondag refused to say whether the Town would appeal the appeal on Westy's show.
Take in the good that has happened today. Tomorrow is another day, just enjoy the moment.
I'm with you, Arleen. Today is only to enjoy. You get few victories in life, grab every moment of it and dance.
