On this day in 1963 JFK was killed in Dallas, Texas. We who were alive at the time remember when and where we heard the news.
There's been much speculation on what really happened and how Kennedy ended up dead that day. Everyone knows the theories. There was a guy in my high school who was a big JFK conspiracy theorist, Jim Kinsella. He was the first person I knew who made allegations that the official story was all lies. While some of these theories are outlandish, there's some compelling evidence that things weren't what we think. My friend Tomaidh posted a link to this now-deleted History Channel episode:

My take is that we'll never know the truth.
Stephen King's book, 11/22/63, has come out. Strider read it already, natch. She said it was a fun ride.

Hard to believe it was 48 years ago. My my, nearly a half-century can pass so quickly.

Well I felt old when I got up this morning and now I feel truly ancient.
It does make you feel ancient, doesn't it?
It really was one of those, 'where were you' moments in my life.
I remember them announcing it in our Elementary school in Vancouver at a special assembly. I recall we were sent home for the rest of the day.
48 years? Indeed, it seems like yesterday.
Stay positive and keep smiling, my dear friend.
With respect and warm wishes, your way, Gary :)
Nothing is ever what it seems and we will never know the truth (about anything).
Hard to believe it was that long ago already. Since I lived in Baltimore at the time, I was actually in D.C. to watch JFK's casket carried down Pennsylvania Avenue on the wagon. Eerie. Very cold that day, and a huge crowd ... but so quiet, you could've heard the proverbial pin drop. What we actually heard was the steady clop clop of horses' hooves.
I was contemplating this book as a Chrimbo pressie for B... reckon I'll see if I can get it, then. Ta chuck.
Gary- It's one of those things that stick with you. For me it's the JFK, MLK, RFK and John Lennon assassinations, the NYC Blackouts, the walk on the moon, the shuttle blowing up and September 11th. They just never are forgotten.
Arleen, sad but true.
Susan- that's all I remember hearing, watching it on TV. Clop-clop.. I can't imagine being there.
Carrie, he'll love it, I'm sure. You're welcome.
